The best starting point is how you want to wear your audio. Labels help you browse, but the design and features of the specific model matter more.
Two labels, different questions
TWS describes a true wireless connection between separate earbuds. OWS is commonly used for open-ear wireless designs. One describes the connection; the other highlights the wearing style. An open-ear design can also be true wireless.
Personal listening with TWS
Compare the earbud shape, supplied ear tips where applicable, controls and charging case. If you want noise cancellation, ambient listening or multipoint pairing, check that the exact model supports it. Those features do not follow automatically from the TWS label.
Exploring open-ear fit
Open-ear designs sit outside the ear canal. Look at the ear hook or clip, how it fits with glasses and how stable it feels during your intended activity. The amount of outside sound you hear and the amount of sound others hear vary with the design, fit, volume and environment.
Your short list
Ask yourself: Where will I listen? Which fit feels comfortable? Do I need frequent calls? How long are my listening sessions? Then compare the stated battery conditions, water-resistance rating, device compatibility and return conditions of the exact model.
